I failed inspection because I had 2 OBD tests still not ready. Secondary air injection and O2 heaters. I replaced my battery a couple months ago and dont drive the car very often but I put at least 200 miles on it and I also went through the OBD2 readiness procedure and still not ready. Now the real problem is I do not have my secondary air injection hooked up with my headers and I do not have any cats but I do have o2 simms and o2 sensors before the cats. I am allowed one test to not be ready. Is there any way to make one of the tests pass? Is it beacuse of the o2 simms? Can I just plug the o2 sensors after the cats in under the car and run it for a few mins and it will go into readiness and not through any lights? Is there anything I can do or maybe get those tests programed out or something? Please I need some help my inspection is over due and I want to drive my car. Thanks.

 

I'd be interested in hearing the response to this. I live in an area that is pretty tough with emissions, but as long as you can pass the OBDII readiness, they won't open the hood. I too plan on installing LT's but with a catted Y pipe.

 

you can tune that out, just need someone to turn the lights off for you. Have my egr, evap and air gone and i pass inspection just fine

 

Cold Start.
1. In order to be classified as a cold start the engine coolant temperature must be below 122°F (50°C) and within 11°F (6°C) of the ambient air temperature at startup. Do not leave the key on prior to the cold start or the heated oxygen sensor diagnostic may not run.

Idle.
2. The engine must be run for two and a half minutes with the air conditioner on and rear defroster on. The more electrical load you can apply the better. This will test the O2 heater, Passive Air, Purge "No Flow", Misfire and if closed loop is achieved, Fuel Trim.

Accelerate.
3. Turn off the air conditioner and all the other loads and apply half throttle until 55mph (88km/hr) is reached. During this time the Misfire, Fuel Trim, and Purge Flow diagnostics will be performed.

Hold Steady Speed.
4. Hold a steady speed of 55mph (88km/hr) for 3 minutes. During this time the O2 response, air Intrusive, EGR, Purge, Misfire, and Fuel Trim diagnostics will be performed.

Decelerate.
5. Let off the accelerator pedal. Do not shift, touch the brake or clutch. It is important to let the vehicle coast along gradually slowing down to 20 mph (32km/hr). During this time the EGR, Purge and Fuel Trim diagnostics will be performed.

Accelerate.
6. Accelerate at 3/4 throttle until 55-60mph (88-96 km/hr). This will perform the same diagnostics as in step 3.

Hold Steady Speed.
7. Hold a steady speed of 55mph (88km/hr) for five minutes. During this time, in addition to the diagnostics performed in step 4, the catalyst monitor diagnostics will be performed. If the catalyst is marginal or the battery has been disconnected, it may take 5 complete driving cycles to determine the state of the catalyst.

Decelerate.
8. This will perform the same diagnostics as in step 5. Again, don't press the clutch or brakes or shift gears.

 

That is the procedure I went through but the o2 heaters and secondary air injection just will not go to ready.

 

you need the codes tuned out. The re-learn procedure won't work if the codes are still active.

 

"the codes"? does anyone actually know the specific settings?

I've heard set XXXXXX DTC to NO ERROR REPORTED and leave SES enabled, then you go to another forum and get totally the opposite response.

Anyone ACTUALLY done this themselves and can you share?


I have a 2005 C6 that won't set the readiness test and I have 02s in the car as well. Have HP Tuner as well.

Anyone? I'm calling a few shops today to see what they recommend. Don't worry I'll have my credit card on hand. just in case they aren't ready to give up free info.
