Default How to remove my computer

what is the easiest way to remove my computer in a '01 formula so I can get to the firewall to pass some wires through to the passenger compartment?

if it is in the same place as the ones on a lt1 cae there should be like one or two bolts that hold it in and it should come up. then all you do is unplug it

yes the LS1 computers come out the same way off of the passenger side strut tower

and then you must unbolt both the wiring connectors with a 7mm i believe

The pcm is held in by a black plastic mounting pack that is bolted in with (2) 10mm bolts to the top of the shock tower. Also, the mounting pack slides into a rail that holds it in place to the shock tower (you can't see it until its out).

Best advice:

-Unbolt the (2) 10mm bolts out.
-Unbolt the two harnesses from the pcm(red and blue). these are 7mm each.
then pull up on the entire mounting pack with the pcm in it
- make sure the harnesses are out of the way, and you should be able to pull up on the mounting pack and pcm to release it from the slides.
- once loose, it's they are still stuck under the plastic windshield cowl....I recommend at this time removing the pcm from the mounting pack. There are two wing's of the mounting pack that hold the pcm to the pack. with a light to moderate amount of force, push these outward, as you pull the pcm vertical.
-Then pull the pcm up and out of the car

Install is the reverse of removal. Remember when hooking back up to the harness, only hand tighten the 7mm bolts!!! these are not to be wrenched down!!!

I hate doing this, as i always cut the hell out of my hand, haha.

I've gotten to the point now, I just assumed take off the plastic cowl on the passenger side so it's easier to pull out the pcm than to go through all the PITA to do it like i said above, haha.
