Default New PCM - car will not run.

i picked up a new PCM from the dealer parts counter today. the car will not run. i have a Baker Electronics VATS module on it.
does anything need to be done to the PCM before its placed into service?

car is a 99 Camaro w/ a 99 LS1. installed a Painless harness for a 98 w/ a new 98 PCM. i have a VATS module from Baker Electronics on it. the car will not run.

No but the knock sensors are differant, but Ithink its only the plugs. Did the dealer flash an OS on the PCM?

got my answer from RockAuto.com.

looked up a PCM for a 98 Z and it says requires programing before use.

ACDELCO Part # 16238212
MODULE,Powertrain Control(REMAN) REQUIRES REPROGRAMMING

i put the 99 harness and PCM back in, and put power and VATS where it was needed and it fired right up. Painless harness and 98 PCM going back Monday.

Jegs sent me the wrong harness so i ordered a 98 PCM to try and make due. never again. using the OEM harness is just too easy.

By the way, this is for a roadrace car w/ a full complement of autometer guages.
