Default Tuning

When people get there car tuned (like when they get a big cam), what all does the tuning do...I talked to a guy about a tune up for 60 bucks where they clean the upper intake , pistons, heads, everything that air touches inside the engine..I know this cant be the same thing that gets everyone like 15 to 20 extra horses. Just want to know what comes with "cam tuning."

Also is that upper intake, etc, cleaning worth 60 bucks, is it necessary, I have a 98 Trans Am. Thanks..Todd

That intake cleaning sounds like BS. The tuning these guys are talking about is adjusting timing curves, air fuel ratio curves, things like that. As far as a tune up goes about all there is to do is change the spark plugs. Everything else is computer controlled, so you need a programer for tuning.

If I bought an Ed Wright tuned PCM would it be the same as getting a tune on my car? 350 a good price for one? Anyone?

First,where are you from?
second,It is highly recommended to have a shop tune your car that has experience with LS1 Edit since every car is different.
The last resort is having Ed do it if there is no shop near you,but don't expect it perfect the first time.
