Default top speed limiter

i know with alot of older cars that you can chip or pigiback a computer and get rid of the governer (sorry spelling isnt my strong point). i just bought a 01 z28 6spd. i toped it out at about 118 maby 120, and just wouldent go past that and i was only in 4th. shifted to fith and wanted to go faster just wouldnt. any recomindations as the right was to bypass this with out screwing anything up?

A professional tune, or even most hand-held tuners can remove the speed limiter.

Its because your tires aren't Z rated(My 98 Z was the same way...talk about scary when it hits this limiter in 3rd gear on the dyno and even the dyno operator thinks something is broken on your car), going over the 118mph could blow out a tire which is why the speed limiter is set like that. If you've changed out your tires to higher speed rated tires you can go with a mail order tune as they are about the cheapest way to up the speed limiter.
