Default ABS Codes Please Help

I did a search, but couldn't find many answers. My ABS INOP, Brake, and ASR light all come on at the same time. Sometimes they won't come on at all, sometimes as soon as I start the car, sometimes after driving for a while, or not at all. I have found that a lot of people have these same symptoms, but couldn't really turn up any answers.

I have the following codes; does anyone know what they mean?

C0896 "Device Voltage Range/Performance" H ($28) "Traction
Control System (TCS) or Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM)"
U1000 "Class 2 Data Link" H ($28) "Traction Control System
(TCS) or Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM)"
U1016 "Lost Class 2 Communications With Engine Controller - Device
$10" H ($58) "Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic
Module (SDM)"
U1040 "Lost Class 2 Communications With Brake/Traction Controller -
Device $28" H ($58) "Inflatable Restraint Sensing and
Diagnostic Module (SDM)"
U1016 "Lost Class 2 Communications With Engine Controller - Device
$10" H ($60) "Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)"
U1040 "Lost Class 2 Communications With Brake/Traction Controller -
Device $28" H ($60) "Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)"

Does anyone have any ideas? I have read a few posts with the same symptoms so it seems like it may be a common problem with these cars.

Easy fix.

First try checking all your bulbs and make sure none of them are burned out.

secondly try inspecting all of your wheel speed sensors (might be one of four)

If all else fails just go to autozone or brake check or Mienike and have them do a free check and they can scope it out and let you know what it is.

My brake lights work, but one of the led's in the third brake light is intermittently working, could that cause it? I didn't know Auto Zone could pull ABS codes.

There is a star connector that contains all theserial data inputs. If the plug is loose it can cause these lights to come on. You will not be able to communicate with the modules if this is the case.

I believe it is under the knee bolster on the drivers side. There is a connector that has four or five green and/or purple wires all connected together. One of them runs to the data link connector.

I had the car scanned with a tool that specifically scans ABS codes and it pulled code c0550 which points to a faulty Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) I am going to replace this, and if it fixes it I will let you know.

What car, what year. I have a GM service manual for my 99 C5. Several times I had a code for EBCM, and it turned out to be a blown fuse, or some other problem. The manual is hard to read sometimes, but it will help to locate the problem. I have had 2 or 3 codes at the same time. Check all fuses, then fix the easiest one. Replace that expensive ECBM after you have tried everything else.
