Default Can a tune just 'go away' ?

I bought my car back in april with the heads/cam/intake/stall already on it/in it. The tune seemed fine except for a couple small details for a few weeks.

After a few weeks go by (I say a few weeks...probably more like the 2nd/3rd tank of gas) it starts surging really bad when you start it up after its already warm...like its way lean. Also didnt want to run with the AC on, but did fine when I first bought it.

Fast forward to now, I just did headers on it and now its way worse. Even on a cold start up it doesnt want to idle most of the time, have to turn on the AC when im moving or it stalls.

When I pulled the plugs out during the header install, they had almost no color to them what-so-ever which scared the crap outta me. (We tune the 565 BBC in my sig by plugs so Im not a newb when it comes to looking at plugs and this bitch is waaaay lean).

I always run 93 in the car, and never added octane booster. Is there anything that would cause the tune to just 'go away'?

I do plan to have the car retuned, but want to get some 3.42's and put them in first so they can change the computer for the gear switch at the same time.

Thanks for any help.

No, it can't just go away without reflashing the pcm. Sounds like it was never tuned well to start with. If it was already lean and you added headers it will be leaner. There are a few things than can cause it to run bad... such as an air leak upstream of the 02's. Are you running open loop or closed?

since you moved the o2 sensor placement, the tune will be off. A re-tune will probably fix your problem, but make sure there aren't any other problems first.

Im pretty sure the headers arent leaking, so leaks ahead of the O2's probably isnt the case.

As far as open or closed loop, I have no clue man. I would guess it goes into closed loop b/c it seems to run different cold vs. hot but I have no software or tech 2 to hook up and see.

I know it was a noob question and I didnt think it could just 'go away', but it was wierd how one day I started it back up when it was warm and it just started surging big time.

Thanks for the reply's guys.

The tunes burnt in don't change BUT engine sensors can which affects the tune.
