little weird thing though. when my original pcm wouldn't communicate the fans wouldn't turn on. bought another one and as soon as i turned the car on the fans would turn back on. when i put the original back and it started turning the fans on too. weird wasn't doing that until i put in the other one.
Glad you got it going. Somebody with a bench top programming harness may be able to flash the first one so you will have a good spare. I'vebeen able to program several like that on the bench when they would not flash or comunicate in the car.

i think i have a similar issue. i have a 96 obd2. the last good write i did with lt1edit was about 2months ago. I just tried connecting recently to upload a new tune and can't connect at all. The car runs fine though, I'm driving it around without issues.

i now cannot connect with lt1edit/autotap/scan gauge

i've reset the pcm, made sure i have power to the port, lt1 edit keeps timing out and trying to reconnect to the pc. i'm using a usb/serial connector currently and it's not working. autotap is not detecting the car.

i'm curious how the pcm could get corrupted if i was able to write successfully.

One thing I do not get though is the fans turning on. They do not turn on when anything is connected.

If you have 12 volts to the port, and nothng comunicates, I would try cleaning it.

If it runs, your LT1 PCM is not corrupt. I have had success cleaning the connectors, as suggested by Ed Wright.

tried cleaning it a couple of times with brake cleaner and inserting a connector a few times. I also disconnected the pcm completely from the four connectors and reconnected it.

i can't even get a regular obd2 scanner to connect. I tested the scanner on a minivan and it connects instantly. It will not connect at all on the camaro.

Trying to read with OBD2 Programmer from lt1 edit, I get a message that it's connected to the PCM but it just times out and keeps trying to reconnect. I stopped it after 30 attempts. I'm stumped that the car runs fine and i was able to last flash a tune in June, now can't connect again.

The lt1 edit controller has the far right light blinking (serial port to pc side) and the 3and 4th LED's (looking from left to right, left being the ALDL connector side) sometimes stay fully lit, sometimes go back and forth on/off as it's trying to read but nothing connects. I'm going to send all this info and the logs to carputing, i'm curious what they'll say i can try next.

I found my old win95 laptop with a serial port. took it all of 5 minutes to start reading. I read two files consecutively and then decided to upload my program. well...it crashed at 7% in, now the PCM is hosed for sure, since the car doesn't start and the fans kick on now with the key in.

Shipping this PCM out to get socketed.

I can't help but laugh when I think about all the stuff I go through trying to keep this cars working/running. I'm glad it's a hobby and this isn't my daily driver anymore.
