Default o2 sensor question

I tuned a 98 formula and he has a custom built exhaust system, headman headers that were for a LS1 swap into a different car, custom 3" y-pipe back to 3 1/2" straight pipe there is no muffler. The guy's son made the exhaust and actually made it so you could use the stock o2 sensors. The car throw's an o2 code for the passanger side, the light will come on then go off for a few days then come back on. Before i tell the guy to buy the 13111 o2's i'm just making sure this will work because he has brand new o2's already they are just stock ones. It seems to me the o2 isn't heating up enough on that side and it's throwing the code and i know the 13111's have a better heater element in them does this sound like the right thing to do?
