I think there is some confusion. CMR (aka Chipmaster Revolution) is a fairly robust piece of software that has only been for sale to shops. I don't know how robust it is having never seen it. But from what I understand, it has access to a lot of the same tables as EFI Live or HPT. The difference is, it works through a hand-held when uploading/downloading the tune from the PCM. This allows someone to tune remotely if there are issues after the initial tuning session (end user d/l's tune, emails to tuner, tuner emails new tune back, user uploads tune to hand-held and loads tune in car). They do this in the Ford world quite a bit...it's how my friend had his Lightning tuned.
Now, is it as optimal as someone who learns EFI Live or HPT for themselves and hooks the laptop up everytime they take the car out? Probably not. But, just because they use CMR doesn't mean they can't tune the car to run right. In the end, it's all in what you want to pay for I guess...
