Default Cam tuning with and without headers??

Im trying to figure this out because I just helped a friend tune in his C6 Z06 which has an 11.4:1 CR forged motor, CAI and a 23x/24x 114lsa cam, AND NO HEADERS. Were running the stock manifolds and cats until we get the headers next week.

What surprized me is the fact that the car could not digest more than 19-20 degrees of timing at WOT, and in one area as low as 18.5, and in another as high as 21. AFR is at 12.6:1.

Ive seen other Z's with almost same compression run up to 24 degrees with 12.8:1 and pump gas.

So my question is, will we be able to squeeze in a few more degrees of timing after swapping out for the catless longtubes

23 degrees would sound right to me.

Any feedback would be appreciated.
