Not ls1-EGR question

My girlfriends car threw a code: its the EGR, the car is a 96 Saturn SC(car)
On occaision the car tries to bog on acceleration. I don't know anything about gas recirculation systems. Do I just need to replace a sensor or what?

try to clean it, on my old 95 grand am i just tore it appart about every 8-12 months, cleaned it and it was ok. does the car wanna jerk really bad at idle?

Try cleaning it.

I cleaned the one on my 99 Tahoe and it still popped the code but less often, I ended up just replacing the EGR.

Thanks for the help. Took it apart and cleaned it up, light is still on and it still bogs rarely(not at idle, just accel and decell) BUT it's better than it was!
Thats great that I didn't have to pay anything, more money for her new car.

same ahppened to me did u get it really clean? i cleaned it with carb cleaner and lubed it with some WD40. dont know if its the same valve or not but thats what i did. is that the only code? casue i know when my o2 was going it woudl jerk really bad like it didnt wanna go and it rarely threw a code for it casue it was GOING hadnt went....that might be somethign else to check into..
