Automatic tuning in a M6 car...
I uninstall the software, and return it to stock according to the Superchips programmer.
What I didn't realize is that this programmer is apparently only for auto cars, and when it reinstalled the "stock" program; it but a stock AUTO program into my car. :thumbdn:
I pulled the fuses, and reset the PCM.. No go. Still has set SES (can't check codes, no scanner) and the CAGS light is constant on.
Here is where the fun begins.. Driving issues:
1.) Speedo is WAY off. 55mph is showing as 22mph
2.) Stumbling around 2400 rpms under part throttle (torque management?)
3.) CAGS light goes off when going about 30 mph
4.) Searches for idle on every startup, and when stopped at a redlight.
I know the obvious answer is to get my PCM reflashed to a 98 M6 program, but who can do it? Will the dealer give me **** about the car having nitrous? How much will they charge?
I'm contacting superchips in the morning to see if they can download a stock 98 M6 program to it... (if they even have one!)
This really really sucks. I need to pay more attention to stupid **** like this. :thumbdn:
i loaded an auto program in my car the other day (on purpose) and i had a few more issues. Like the car will not go into reverse and CAGS actually activates randomly while driving and I had to turn the car off and back on....
a few things were similar to yours though....speedo was way off, and the car was almost always searching for an idle...when it did idle it was at like 550 rpms
btw: i paid $75 for a performance shop to load a stock auto program to my PCM
(fyi...i did this because my car is getting an auto tranny put in today)
I ended up grabbing the latest 98 program from TIS and loading it with a tech 2.
All fixed..
