Default Need Pillar gauge connection help!!!

I have new pillar gauges and would like to know where most of you have tapped into the ignition wire at and has anyone put the gauge lights on the dimmer switch? Where did you locate the water temp sender unit also? Thanks!

I put the power wire into the fuse box right there. I just mashed the wire into the fuse labled "Guages" and made sure it was on the right side so the fuse could blow if something went wrong. I did tap into the dimmer switch, as you can see there are quite a bit of wires coming out of there. I installed mine a long time ago and not sure of the color of the wire. You can use a voltmeter to help you out. Turn on the lights and stick the red wire of the voltmeter in the various holes of the dimmer switch, the right wire will give a voltage reading that changes as you dim the lights, the voltage will go down obviously. IIRC, I tapped into a green wire on the dimmer switch, BUT DONT TAKE MY WORD ON IT!!!

And for the water temp gauge sender, the common place is in the head by the #8 cylinder, but if you have ever looked back there, it is damn near impossible to get the sender in. I put my sender in a plug that is just above the starter. It is very easy to access and only requires you to unbolt the starter, then remove the plug thats in the block. Watch out, a boatload of coolant will come out of this hole! You need to buy an adapter for this location, the ones that came with the gauges will not fit. I believe the size is M16x1.5 with the 1/8" in the middle for the actual sender. Then I routed the wire up along the loom for the oxysensors which goes up the the PCM. I wraped the wires in loom also to protect them. Then run the wire through the grommet in the firewall which it just behind the PCM. Use a coat hanger to pull the wire through, no need to remove the PCM. Good luck!
