Default Need help quick. P1626

hey, went to start my car today, lights came on, but wouldnt start. No crank, nothing. checked my DTC's, had a P1626 code- Theft Deterrent fuel enable signal not received. All the threads and info I have found, they say the car does start, but that isnt the case for me. What could be the cause and/or remedy for this? I don't have a tuning program so I cant tune it out, which is what alot of people seem to suggest. Thank you!

This is for my 01 SS btw

This may help a bit more:
http://www.hotrodlane.cc/New%20LS%20...TC%20P1626.htm

The above link suggests the BCM, or more likely, the resistor pellet in the key.
Do you have a second key that you could try?
You don't need a tuning program to turn the code off, just a scanner that will reset codes for you. If it sets again, then you need to investigate further.

i tried deleting the code, its not on the scangauge anymore, but the car still will not start. I don't have an extra key, does home depot have a key that I could get cut or would this be a straight from GM kind of thing? If i go to home depot for it and show them, will they start asking for things I dont know like the resistance on it etc?

if you have a multimeter you can check the resistance on the key
