HELP: Have check engine light on in 2 LSX vehicles

HELP: Have check engine light on in 2 LSX vehicles I'm looking for some advice. I have check engine light on in my 06 Silverado 5.3 truck. I had my brother scan it today and the code is indicating a problem with the evap canister or the the canister solenoid. I also have a service engine light on in my 02 Z28 that is also emissions related and comes on intermittently. I have put in a new air pump and 2 O2 sensors to try to get the light to go out in the Z28 but am not having any luck. Both vehicles run perfectly.
Now that the light is on in both vehicles, I am getting fed up. I am considering buying the HP tuners software to delete the faulty engine codes with the software and as a bonus be able to give the car and truck each a very mild tune. I want to make sure this software is capable of such a task and if you guys think it is a practical move.
BTW... The truck is all stock and the Camaro has an SLP intake and a Loudmouth II catback.
