Autometer tach issue.

Autometer tach issue. I have been using one of the Autometer shift light/tach tubes with no issues as far as rpm accuracy, I just can't see the light for ****. I had it set as 4cy 2 pulse and all was well. I put an actual tach in the car today and snipped the wires to run it in 4cy mode and the rpm is WAY WAY WAY off. I went into hp tuners and the tach output is still set to 6/6. Anyone have any ideas?
