Hello my first post ive been searching for 2 hours and cant find the answer. Im using a 5.3 harness and wanted to know can i use a ls1 ecu or does it have to be the 5.3. The reason is its easyer to get a tune done on the ls1 ecu. Thanks for any help. Ryan

 

There are some differance between the 2 harnesses, but for the most part, within the year ranges they interchange. Since they both tune the same way, how is it easier to get one tuned over the other?

 

Don't know why you are thinking one is easier to tune over another... Anyway, you can full flash a 5.7 tune into a 5.3 PCM or vice-versa, so it doesn't really matter. It really doesn't matter what harness you have, as long as you have all the needed connections and sensors. Do it all the time - I just put an EFILive custom operating system in a 5.3 PCM to use in a Mustang with a 427 cu in LS7 (with an LS1 reluctor ring) transplant... there's a combination you don't see everyday...

Ok i was looking on lt1pcmtuning and didnt see a tune for 5.3 and there was another place also. There is a bunch more 5.3 vs ls1 ecus im gonna mod the harness myself just needed to know what ecu im doin the ls1 intake. Thank you for the help.
