Default This sounds like a MAJOR problem....

SES code P1258!!! (engine metal over temperature protection) and to top it off it even smells like burning metal!!!! I have oil pressure and just changed my oils too how is this happening???

It's actually coolant over temp.. Have you checked you temp gauge or coolant levels.. When computer sees the car at 268F it goes into protection mode via fuel shutoff (alternates 4 injectors, so the car barely runs).

ya problem solved. my griffin radiator appearantly was damaged in the previous car when a fucktard crashed my car. pinched a cooling tube and made a pinhole leak that would only leak when the car was at temp and would quickly evaporate not leaving any signs of a leak...got a new radiator burped the system finally and no air no more code...
