d585 spark dwell time Does anyone know if i have to change the spark dwell time if i switch over to the truck style coils?
ive read a couple of post that you have to change to the truck settings on this. any info would be appreciated.

Do you absolutely have to no. Is it recommended to yes. The newer truck coils do charge much faster than the older style, having the correct dwell settings will make them run more efficient and less risk of burning them out. I have seen 2 different dwell setups in the pcm for truck with these coils.
Just as a side note, I have done the truck (heat sink) coil swap on my firebird. The car does idle smoother, and revs a bit nicer, other than that, there really isn’t much different. If you can get the coils cheap its a nice swap, but honestly over 100.00 and it’s not really worth it HP gain if can see maybe 5hp gain (if any).
Now remember I just did this swap as well, I love the coils but I got them for $80.00 for the coils, brackets and harnesses. If you have a factory fuel rail the driver side will not fit. If you have fast rails they will fit perfect. I can post up a pic if you want of my install.
PM me your email and i can send you a HPT file with the dewll in it that I use. You can then copy those or your tuner to your tables.
