Default 98 Ls1 fireing order? was it different?

OK... I have a 98 ls1. My firing order in hptuners is 3-1-8-7-2-6-5-4, I thought maybe this was wrong, so i did a little research.

My file, has this order, as well as all 98's, and 99's stock files i have found on hptuners.

2000-2002 the firing order is 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3

Is this something i should change or not? Its the same order but the 98, and 99 start with cylindar 3, and end with 4, vs 00-02 start with 1, and end with 3.

Thanks, Chris

He said that, he is just asking if it matters that they start with a different cylinder.
I don't see any reason to change it if it works.

If you are just talking about in the calibration I think everybody knows. Just leave it alone.

The firing order in the calibration file, which is listed in HP Tuners and other tuning software, is what he is talking about. It doesn't always begin with 1. It has to do with injector timing. The only time you would change that would be if you had a cam ground with a different firing order.
Not sure what part you don't understand. But you come across like a real gentleman.

Firing order is the sequence cylinders will be ignited. It doesn't need to start with #1, as long as the camshaft has the same order and all wiring and and sensors are right, it works.

It usually starts with #1 to simplify things (because cylinder numbering starts with #1) but it doesn't matter.
In a V8 when you start the car there are 8 posibilities for which cylinder is the first to be fired and then the sequence goes on and on.

I mean, you don't need to manually rotate the crank to put the #1 piston in TDC for the engine to start. It starts in any position it has then the sequence resumes.
