Default Q. security light..

I was getting ready to start my car, engaged the clutch, tapped on the brakes, and noticed the brake pedal was ROCK HARD. So I then turn the ignition, and get nothing, no noise nada. I get out of the car with the keys, and notice the "Security" light stays on for about 5mins or so....What could this be? Electrical problems? Bad starter maybe??

By the way, the car is working fine at the moment this was about an hour ago.

Ive had a few 01up chevy trucks come to me. on a few of them i found the ignition switch to be the culpret. theres two little wires on it for the passlock system that over time(keycycles) they break off. on others ive found that someone installed a aftermarket security/remote start. and that requires a module to work with the security. and the module goes out. either way start with the easy stuff like replace the batteries in your key fob.
good luck
