Default Checking temps from pcm

Are checking temps more accurate from the computer than running separate sensors for trans and coolant?

I went by the computer temps for Engine and tranny. Seemed to work pretty good.

The reason I like about temps through the PCM are two fold. First they are digital so I know the engine is at 199 degrees in traffic instead of "around...whatever that mark is." While the second and possibly my favorite is I can log and track them during a run then make adjustments as necessary.
