Default AEM EMS - problem wit idle control valve and setting base timing.

Working on a friends LS6 swapped RX7 and we decided to use the AEM. I have been using AEM for quite a few years so I am used to the tuning.

However I seemed to have run into a couple issues. So far I am using just the default cal. It starts up, and runs super rich, so not too bad for no changes. What I have a problem with is the idle control It seems to not work properly. It idles around 2300rpm and if I put my hand over the TB to make it stall, I will hear the valve move. I then pull the plug and start it up, and I get 800rpm idle. I can plug the idle valve back in, and there are no changes to idle until the make the engine die. If I turn off the car and start it back up again, the idle is in the 2000+ range. Something not working right.

The second thing is setting the timing. There are no timing marks so there is no way to time. I am pretty new to the LS motor, so I don't know the best way other than a dial indicator down one of the spark holes to determine TDC(not a very good way)

THanks
