Question Changing VIN with HPT help

Im doing an engine swap in a V6 truck and im not getting any fire, so i try changing the VIN from the 02 GMC 4.8 to the current VIN of the vehicle and i keep getting an error msg. when i try to write it. Ive followed the "help" file 3 different time and it keeps failing to change when i try and write the VIN. Any help is appreciated, TIA, Eric.

Default vin

Make shure you have both license for both vins or unlimited license for that year or it will not take. So if you have vin 123456 you need credits then the other vin say 7890123 you would need more credits again unless their both from the same year vehical.

Truck still will not start, cant even write a calibration now. I tried to write the original PCM VIN back, thought that might fix the problem but i get a error msg (mode 3 erase failed - check 1 failed) I dont know wtf im doin and really need some help. Last night, the only way i could get it to write is go to calibration details and put in the V6 VIN. I tried putting in the PCM VIN and changing back to the V8 VIN in "Change VIN" but all i get is ERROR msg's. I dont know what else to do.... I guess ill waste more $$$$ and buy more credits and try to write the V6 PCM????

Just leave the VIN alone it will not stop the truck from starting. Disable VATS and if everything is wired correctly it will run.

There are certain rules that apply to VINs, model years, and maybe operating systems to comply with HP Tuners licensing. You can't always just mix them randomly or you break their licensing scheme.
