tunedbyfrost mail order tune Just thought I'd throw some good info out on the net for people looking in to this.
I have an automatic 2001 Pontiac Trans Am with 150K miles on it. It has an air lid, ported throttle body, catback exhaust, and 4.10 gears... That is it. Still has factory manifolds and cats on it. I've had it for about 6 years now.
It consistently ran 13.1@106mph
I decided a couple of weeks ago to give Tuned By Frost dot com a try, I mean for 125 bucks you can't really go wrong. I was amazed by the turnaround, I live in Oklahoma and sent the computer out on a tuesday, and got it back the following monday. I installed it, and drove it about 100 miles the first day and I could really tell a difference in the transmission and the smoothness of the power. So I can say it was worth it just by this alone... Until I went to the track yesterday... I figured after the Tune it might run a 12.80-12.90... Well I made my first pass and here is the timeslip...
Needless to say I was dumbfounded... I thought they had given me the wrong timeslip, so I ran again and ran the same time. So I would say the results speak for themselves!

To go from 106 mph to 110 mph in a 3500 lb car you would have to gain about 35 hp. Not sure how much you have to gain to run in the future but I think it involves a flux capacitor.

I'm just as surprised. But I will tell you a 60' makes or breaks a 1/4 mile time. for every 1/10 in the 60' you normally gain 2/10's in the 1/4. The temperature was 66 degrees as well. Perfect weather and DA for making some good passes.
Im not wondering , if i shoul just get a tune by frost , i have a 99 formula with a lid , mac mids , some y pipe with cats and 4" spin tech cat back .
Id want the rear cats tuned out , the speed limiter removed , and the egr tuned out .

I know it wont be as good as an incar street tune fro my particular car the price is very enticing . Frost will the price be the same next year , my car is in storage now , so i have to wait till spring.
Yep! Steve found 16 rear wheel HP and 20 ft lbs on my stock 98 last week! Not to mention how much better my drive ability and tip in off throttle is now....

A4, 3:23....thats it.
How much HP could I expect to free up with one of this mail tunes?

I don't get into the HP guessing arena when I can help it. You get a lot more than just a few HP with a mail order calibration. There are some further details here: http://www.tunedbyfrost.com/products_m03.htm
