i purchased an 02 v6 camaro and have a wrecked 98 z28. i've swapped the engine and trans all to the v6 car and i runs but i have no guages inside that work. Do i have to put the instrument cluster from the v8 into the v6 car to get everything working?

1999-2002 work different.
98's drive the cluster right off the sensors.
There are a few things you can do but the easiest and most reliable is going to be:
you need to get a 2002 cluster and a 99+ engine harness.
You will need a 99+ pcm as well, preferable a 2002 0411.
The 2002 harness in the car does not have the provisions in the harness to drive the cluster you would have to add all the wires.
by the time you do that you can have swapped the engine harness out.

there is a third plug that comes off the engine harness that goes inside but the 02 v6 car does not have anywhere to plug it in. is that what i need to have plugged in?
