Readiness monitors...HELP.

Readiness monitors...HELP. I need emissions in a couple of days - I changed my battery a couple of weeks ago and there are 2 readiness monitors left to run.
1. Secondary air
2. Catalyst
I've demanded the air pump on with my scanner and it works, but now that I think about it I haven't heard it run in probably close to a year.
How do I get the secondary air injection system to run? What parameters do I need to follow to allow the system engage the test.
My mitchells gives me the code setting conditions for the air system (which I imagine would be the same conditions to run the test) but no luck. I need to run one more readiness monitor to pass emissions.
I used to hear the pump run everytime I started the car.... ANY ideas??
