Alright guys the car is a 98 z28. We keep getting a knock on start up. Sometimes it will fire up perfectly, then the next time it pulls like 10*. It will surge idle wise. This has everyone stumped, we added new sensors and a wiring harness. I know this is little info, but need to get this figured out

false knock could really be any number of things, depends how sensative your knock sensors are. anything from loose motor mounts to exhaust components hitting the underside of the car...maybe bad fuel too...hard to say without seeing the car in person. you sure it is not REAL knock?
what mods do you have? have you had some sort of tuning software like EFI Live or HP Tuners hooked up so you can make a log file to post? how did you observe the 10* of timing retard, scan gauge or what?
