My chip makes the check engine light come on. I used to have a cheat where I removed the battery cable and one of the fuses but I lost the exact directions. This would solve the problem for a month or 2 and it would return. Any suggestions on a fix and does anyone know the cheat.

I have to renew the brake tag on the car and cannot as long as the CEL is on.

You would be better off figuring out WHY the Check Engine Light is coming on. Fix it and you will not have to keep resetting the pcm.

 

I've taken it to the shop 2 or 3 times and was told by the tech that he couldnt find anything wrong with it and that the "gas cap may be loose" Any suggestions?

 

Replace the gas cap and whoop, no more problems and you can pass your whatever inspection.

 

What code is it throwing?

 

yea, even a loose gas cap will have a coresponding code.
Did you try to replpace the gas cap yet?
