cpu problem?
I have a 2001 camaro and had a 98 ls1 put in but cant get it right it stumbles a barely even runs.I had it tuned by frost for what the new motor has and still ran the same. The guy I got the body from with the 2001 cpu still in it (the one I got tuned) said he had a big cam nitrous tune.I took it to the mechanic and he checked everything and said it still had a big race tune making it run like that.I dont know anything about tuning and was wondering if the old tune can stay locked or something.
Just want my car running again

Lets see if I understood you
1- You have a 2001 camaro body w/2001 PCM. Correct?
2- You got a 98 LS1 engine, dropped it into your 2001 body and used the 2001 PCM. Correct?
3- The 2001 PCM was tuned for your current motor, since it was Frost I assume it was a mail-order tune
4- Mechanic says your 2001 PCM still has the race tune from previous owner (even after it was tuned)
I think you have a different problem and the mechanic just blamed the tune, because if you sent your PCM to Frost, even if it was locked, it wouldn't be a problem for him. He won't charge you the price of tuning without doing the job.
It may be a faulty sensor or wrong wiring.
Have you scanned the car?
Forgive me if I didn't understand, your post is hard to read.

Every thing you said above is what I meant. What else could be the problem the motor ran great in the other car.
Checked wiring diagrams for 98 and 01 to see differences and all connections andwire colors and everything was good had to change temp sensor on driverside head cause 98 had 3 prong and 01 had 2.
