Thumpr Cam tune with video
Thumpr Cam tune with video Anyone here on the forum that have tuned a med size Thumper camshaft with success on a lm/ls series engine? Every one i talk with always know someone that has done it without a direct answer. I'm working on one right now and the cam works excellent except on idle and cold idle. yes we have opened up the hole in TB blade for adding more air. I did raise the spark up to 31 degrees in the 0-1000rpm area, and it's responding to it. But it seams so wrong with 31* at idle. Cold idle is hopeless.
Engine made 420BHP on a 5.3L engine with stock 862 heads and Ls1 intake with 85mmTB. Engine has about 40 000miles as a truck engine.
What i would love to see is some other's tuning file for a LsX setup.
Talked to a friend of my over at Lingenfelter, and they have not used those cams on LsX engines, only carburetor engines... So no help there
Map sensor shows poor vacuum, but that's normal with those cam's.
Afr is there we want it, on 14 on idle, and 12,5 VOT.
Anyone with a full working tune for this cam? Any tune file can be opened up.

You need to invest in "The Tuning School Learn @ Home ADVANCED Coarse". This is an instruction book specifically designed for step by step using Hp Tuners. Covers low speed startup/idle issues among others.

Here is the middle size in a LS2 that was in my truck. I now have MuthaThumper in a stroked LS3 and it runs great.
Set your commanded AFR a full number richer for the cold start.
