Default Scalar?

I am reading a bunch of threads on tuning and the word "scalar" keeps popping up, especially in the injector stuff. Could somebody please try to explain what this means in layman's terms.

I have put 42lbs SVO injectors in my engine (see sig) and want to make sure I have the flow rates correct. I am using the HP tuner program.
