Default MSD 6010 issues...help please?

Well, I have an MSD 6010 in my jet boat (it's well protected from moisture).

It was in my 1st LS powered jet boat for about 6 months, and in the current boat for 3 months. Up until Sunday it had performed flawlessly. The only change from the last "perfect" performance and yesterday was I added 2* of timing above 5000 rpm (now up to 31* total).

Problem 1: It started cutting out sporadically. There was no specific "trigger" for the cut out as far as I can tell. Basically, I'd be cruising at about 4000 rpm, then the tach would fall to zero and the engine would die, then a 1/2 second later the tach would be normal and the engine running again.

Problem 2: After making a 5 minute cruise across the lake, I shut the boat off. After about 5 more minutes, I tried to refire it; but it wouldn't start. I pulled a plug and found it was getting no spark. The tach was reading about 300-500 ish rpm when the starter was turning, I think. After sitting another 10 minutes, it fired.

Problem 3: I use the 2-step function a lot. RevLo is 4800 rpm and RevHi is 6000 rpm. Yesterday, when going anything over 5200 rpm I was getting a very odd misfire. It was almost like a stutter. That happened on 8 attempts to make a "high speed" pass. On the 9th attempt, it ran like it should.

Problem 4: When revving over 5000 rpm, the Autometer tach would flash to 5600 rpm (as it should have), and then fall to 5000 rpm. However, the engine still sounded like it was at 5600+ rpm. Also, the speed of the boat indicated the engine was not at 5000 rpm. I never did get an accurate reading on the tach above 5000 ish rpm. This 6010 and Autometer have been working accurately together for about 3 months.


Thoughts, hints, suggestions?

Installed a relay - works as it should now.
