I'm not familiar with how to do it on an LS1. Did it on my LT1. You can do two things:

1. Unscrew the knock sensor in the side of the block and wrap teflon tape around the threads. That supposedly makes it a bit less sensitive.

2. Unbolt the PCM, open the little door on the back, and pull out the knock module and substitute in one from an LT4 PCM. It was calibrated less sensitive due to the LT4 having a bit more valvetrain noise, etc than a stock LT1.

Between those two mods, I got rid of a small bit of knock retard (3 degrees if I remember correctly) that was induced during WOT runs. Tested before and after with a scanner/data logger, so I know it was effective. Which step more than the other? I don't know. I did them both before performing the "after" testing.
