Default EFI LIVE Scan tool

So I just dropped in an LQ4 in my 68 camaro with a 4l80e. The computer is a blue/green 2003 version which I had brendan at lt1swaps program for me. Cam is 222/230/ .570 lift, LS3 heads/injectors/intake. It has a maf from a truck (2006 silverado), and an edelbrock throttle body with a cable, TPS, IAC, etc. (didn't want to dick with the DBW stuff).
It has dynomax headers.

I don't really care to or have the patience to learn how to tune. I'm just going to take the car to MASPORT in west palm beach, FL (I'm in Miami, about 100 miles away), to have Dave Maslik dyno tune the car. But he charges a lot of money per hour and I want to make sure all the sensors/wiring is all hooked up properly.

I'm looking to get a scan tool to tell me whether there are problems like bad sensors/vacuum leaks, stuff not hooked up properly.

I downloaded the EFI live software from efi live, the demo version. If I just get a generic OBDII to USB cable, will the EFI scanner work and show me trouble codes, diagnostics, and engine data like RPM? What will the unregistered mode show?

Also, how much would it cost to register the software to scan only?

I should also mention that the car's computer is an LS1 computer but Brendan supposedly put in a 4l80e program for it, and the base LS3 engine programming. Will EFI live be able to scan this?

If you could do this, they would not be in business long.

You will need to buy the device.
A VIN license is not needed for the scan tool.

OK I'm confused. So what device will I need to buy? The online manual says you can use an autotap cable for scanning only. I don't want to tune, just to scan.
If I just bought an autotap cable and didn't register, what would EFI Live be able to tell me about my car?

You can scan with the Autotap, V1 & V2 without a software license.

The scanner will show selected PID data for your 1mb LS1 PCM.
You will need to interpret the data on your own.
