Default 4L60e -> th400 tune?

I keep reading on ls1tech that when you switch from a4 to th400, you have to re-tune the car.

I've heard that you can just delete alot of the codes and just run with them turned off.
But some people have had issues with the pcm not recognizing if the car was in Drive of P/N causing them to idle and run poorly.

I also heard people say you can just go to a manual flashed tune and avoid all the Drive and P/N issues.

Anyone chime in before I pull the trigger on a th400?

Thanks

I'm no tuning expert but my buddy did the same swap but it did fine with the swap what I'd do is unplug the main harness at the trans and take a scanner and see that the car sees the change to reverse and to drive

I have done it, just delete the DTC's and it works ok. No problems at all.
A manual tune or segment swap is better, but not mandatory.

Definitely flash in an M6 tune and go from there. The computer doesn't control it and even if you delete codes from an A4 tune it will cause small problems.

Some idle control and decel fueling tend to do some weird things. Others have reported some WOT fueling weirdness but I've never seen it. Either way it takes a couple of minutes to flash in a manual operating system to avoid it all together.

When I went from a 4l60e to a th400 I just turned off the codes at first. I had 3 different motors, a th400 and a glide in the car and never had a issue until one day my car started pulling alot of timing. I couldnt figure it out so I flashed it over to a mn6 and never had another problem. Since then I just flash all of them to mn6 when doing the swaps.

Sorry to high jack but having the same issues. Say if i wanted to just delete the 4l60e codes which ones do i need to shut off. Also if i switch to a 6 speed trans on hptuners does it still try to pick up the vechical speed sensor (and what ever else is monitored by the computer in a 6 speed)and continue to have the check engine light on.

Flash it as a 6 speed and be done....lot less headaches that way.

How do you this? does not seem to be a easy way to just change it. Do i need to buy credits on a 6speed car and load that tune up?

Are you using HPT or EFI Live? I dont know how to do it with HPT without using another credit. With EFI Live you can either do a segment swap for the trans or you can flash a complete new 6 speed tune it, either one will be free with EFI if you have already licensed the pcm.
