Default 02 into 99

so i had a 95 camaro that had a 02 engine and harness in it. it got totaled out and i installed it into a '99 roller i got in TN.

i assumed that the PCM was the 2002, but when i installed it into my 99, nothing in my instrument cluster works. i tried to put my orginal cluster in the 99 and it just started smoking.

how do i check to see what version PCM or ECU i have? what the hell is this BCM ?

im thinking i might have ended up with a 98 ECU somehow during the 02 to '95 swap.

#1 how do i check to see which PCM i have?
#2 what causes my instrument cluster to not read? (if its the 98 pcm instead of the 2002, why did it work in my 95?)
#3 is there a quick fix for my instrument cluster? i have both clusters

thanks for any input...

#4. Is it possible my 02 engine is being run on a 1999 wiring harness by a 1998 PCM?

orginally, the '02 **** was put into a 95 (yes, a 95 v6 chassis). so i dont know if the PCM is from the 02, or if they used another harness and PCM.

#5. Instrument cluster...
the running and tuned PCM out of the wrecked 95LSX I installed into the '99 camaro wiring. when i cranked it, the instrument cluster started smoking...so i swapped the orginal 99 instrument cluster in and it is not reading tach, speedo or gas, while maxing out the oil pressure but reading the voltmeter accurately

#6. I left out the 2002 BCM during the installation into the 1999.
Should i have put the 2002 BCM in the 1999 harness when i dropped in the 1998 PCM(or 2002. i dont know for sure)or should i switched the 2002 BCM into the 1999 as well?

retraced the grounds and replaced all fuses inside and outside, still no instrument cluster. why would a 99 work and an 02 cluster work? maybe they are both bad?

Have you tired applying power to the instrument cluster to see if it even works. Also the PCM (Powertrain control module) has numbers on it which should lead you in the right direction(unless its tuned then find a friend with software). The harness should match the pin out for a 98, 99, 2000+ believe after 2000 they are the same(this is from memory.). Also your BCM (Body control module) is what powers stuff in the car (Like your cluster for instance.). Are they different for each year...I have no idea.
