Default 25.6 afr setting and runs great. why

so if i set my afr to 14.68 it runs super rich but if i set it to 25.6 it runs great. just before it gets in to boost then goes super rich but gets through it then its fine in boost but still a little rich at like 11.0. whats the deal? set up is a stock 2001 5.3 with ls6 intake with 36lbs injectors. t72 turbo ar.96. 50mm rps bov. 50mm wastegate. running 92 octane

There's more to AFR than just "setting" it. Other tables are contributing to the overall fueling, so clearly those need work if setting it to 14.7 runs richer than that.

Purely a guess, but the injector flow rate in your tune does not match the actual injector flow. This means, someone changed out the injectors to a much higher rate but did not change the tune to match.

That could explain it.

You shouldn't mess around like that without a wideband.

That sounds about right. That is, if your wide bank is accurately calibrated which many of the cheap ones are not. What conditions exactly are causing the problem?

at about 2.800 rpm if i give lots of petal it bogs goes to 10.0 stumbles, ill hold it then it catches up makes boost then takes off.it takes like 3 seconds.but if i ease it up to like 4000 rpm then it only bogs for a second

Has it been tuned? Sounds like no... the tune is off causing it to be extremely rich when you go into WOT/boost hard. It needs to be tuned properly!

It's in the beginning stage of tuning but still can't figure out why the afr has to be set so high. It's with hp tuners. Not sure if it needs to set to 14.68 then wright entire. Instead of write calibration only. The stft openloop is on. Not sure if that should. Be turned off. Going sd. No maf.

WOW!!!! Plz do yourself a favor and tune the MAF/VE tables ASAP. Try searching for the correct injector data for the 36lb/hr injectors or swap them to some ford SVO Green Top 42's. Theres TONS of data out there for the green top injectors.

Some ppl used to scale injector data by playing with the AFR stoich setting that way but it makes your Power Enrichment figures a little more difficult to figure out.

Put the stoich command back to 14.68.

http://ls1tuningguide.com/index.php - this is a start.

http://www.masportspeedshop.com/serv...-tuning/Detail - buy this book and read it 10x

There is more to tuning than just changing the afr numbers.
