Temperature Gauges?!?!
Temperature Gauges?!?! hey guys i've got an oil temp gauge and a tranny temp gauge (both autometer and electrical)..
anyways my friend and I are planning on installing them ourselves and on the instructions sheet it says for oil and trans temp:
-hole may have to be drilled and adapter nut (included) welded or brazed in pan. Be sure there is adequate internal clearance for nut and sender.
my question is that i always thought that all that was needed was to just drill a hole (same size as the adapter nut) and then simply screw it in and it would hold...but now it says to do some welding?
anyone know of any other detailed write-ups for this? or could offer some advice? thanks

Search on LS1.com for the Tranny temp gage. A member called Blacker99 (I think) has a write up on how to install the tranny sender unit up into an existing location on the tranny. You just take a bolt on the housing out, and bammo, you're done. A bunch of people have said it works great and it's easy.
