Emission Question, LT1 to LS1, possible to pass?
I have a 96 OBDII LT1 Z-28 with T-56. Have lots of mods to buying a LS car is out the question, I refuse to start all over. I live in El Paso, TX and we have state inspection. I have no EGR, AIR, cats, rear O2's or anything else emission related. I've been passing because I use the Jet DST to tune out all the codes and I'm friends with a guy that does state inspections.
Now, does anyone know if I do a LS swap will I pass? A very helpful guy on LS1LT1 has told me in Georgia they scan the VIN and when they scan your car their computer is looking for a LT computer and LT protocol.
I dont know if they do the same thing in TX, just want to see what you guys think. I can obviously delete the codes and also change the VIN. Any ideas?

They also check if all readiness monitors are passed or not (of course you can make all of them pass with tuning).

The problem is with visual inspection, which seems easy to pass for Texas:
