Default Question about VATS and tuning credits

Hi all, I'm new here and this is my first post so hopefully I've out it in the right place.
I live in Australia and do a lot of LS1 conversions. Normally I pay someone to remove the VATS and change a few other things. So I'm thinking of buying a HP Tuner of some sort so I can do this myself, as well as try my hand at tuning.
What I want to know is. Does going into the ECU and removing the vats use up one of the credits or is it only when tuning you use up credits?
Thank you

Removing vats is considered modifying the computer which in turn would eat up credits.

There is a person on this board a few pages back that I saw that had a used kit with a lot of open stuff on it, maybe his version he has would help you out a bit. Soundengineer was the name.
