Default Knock Sensor Location

I have a LS3 block with 2" headers. The driver's header is hitting the knock sensor, the knock sensor is mounted on the side of the block, toward the back. I think this is the stock location on LS3's.
There's a tab on the driver's side of the block near the very front of the block, that's already tapped. Can I put the sensor there.
Would this work? Or does it need to be toward the middle of the block?
Thanks

You running LS1 or LS2 knock sensors? You can mount them just about anywhere, but you'll need to tune for them. Some areas are going to be more sensitive than others.

You can move them, but they will have to be "tuned" to be correct again. From the factory calibration, they where setup to be in the center section on the top of your engine under the intake and are very dulled down making them not very sensitive to real kr if you move them to the side of the block. Usually you have to make them more sensitive if you move them to the side, depending on what block material is. Aluminum vs iron will be different.

Proof of this is by comparing the calibration between an iron block lq9 vs the lq4 of the same year in the knock segments.

They are LS1 sensors. Aluminum block.
Thought about the trash can also.
Do you need these on an all out race car, no street use, just 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile all the time.
WOT all the time.

With a race car and a lot of street cars you need to be tuning by the plug readings and trash the knock sensors.
