Default need help wiring an SES light

i have a 69 chevelle with an 05 tahoe 5.3L and an LS1 pcm. i know that connector 2, pin 46 is the MIL control. but how does it send output. can i just wire it to an led or bulb and have it light up when it throws a code? if so what does the pcm output a ground or power signal?

or if i am totally wrong, how can i make an SES indicator?
thanks.

The PCM supplies the ground signal. You just take a small 12 volt bulb are power itfrom an ign. circuit and hook the other side of the bulb to the PCM.
One thing to remember other then the fuel pump circuit the PCM control is normally the ground side of the circuit

The pcm sends a ground signal. When i tried a regular 12 volt bulb it didn't work correctly. There was a special type of bulb or a resistor to make it work but i can't remember.
