Can I load LS1Edit files into a blank PCM?
My tuner, using LS1Edit, has all my PCM settings backed up, but partway through my tune the PCM stopped responding. If I need to buy a new PCM, wondering if I can buy a blank and if he can load the saved file back in?
Thanks
2 years ago I killed my PCM (lost power during a tune), I had to have a dealership reflash it with their Tech2.
However... HP Tuners offers PCM recovery as part of the VCM suite (it's part of the tuning software). I don't know if it will restore a PCM that's never been touched by it before though ... you'd wanna email Keith (www.hptuners.com for contact info) about that.
But, most likely the PCM is fine, it just needs to be reflashed. Anydealership can do it (provided you bring the car in).
edit: If the PCM you buy already has the stock code in it then I think the ls1edit tuner can put your tune on it.. when I bought my spare PCM I had the dealership flash it to a 2000 PCM code so not sure if it was blank or not)
