Do i need a tune?
i just got my LS in my 2000 s10 yesterday and tried to start it for the first time. the only major mods i have on it is a 228r comp cam, and a circle D 3200 stall/ granted, I havent gotten the VATS removed yet or a base tune. but oi sprayed a little amount of starting fluid in it and it really wont catch. if i let the starter fluid sit in it for about 2 minutes. itll " cough" a little. fuel system isnt hooked up because im waiting on injector plugs' also i dont have my BCM harness re-pinned yet so thats not plugged in. i mean it should atleast fire for a second right?

It will turn that plastic intake manifold into a grenade... Starting fluid is for carbed engines NOT for EFI... It says it on the bottle.
Its been posted here before, there has been videos on youtube of it and I have seen other threads on other forums. It doesn't get burned, and puddles in the intake manifold and if your engine ignites it in the intake she goes boom.

Im wondering whats wrong though. It wont start and starter fluid just makes it cough if I let it sit for a minute. Would not covering the BIG vac nipple near the MAP sensor prevent it from starting. I forgot I didnt have anything on it when I tried to start it......

Finish putting it together before you try to start it........ Having no start issues with things not hooked up is not surprising. How can we help diag an issue if we don't know that there is one because you were antsy? it will run ok with the 228r, but you will need a tune for it to be right. the tune is not the reason for the no start

How do you expect it to start if you don't have the injectors hooked up. The ls fuel injection runs on 60 psi. Starting fluid isn't going to work like a carb motor.

i "expect" it to fire. im not sure if the fluid is being ignited because sometimes it "putts" and makes a weird smell after cranking it over, but nowhere near starting. the fuel pump is setup and i get 58-60psi at the rail. injectors will not spray. i hope its the vats. this crap is making me so depressed and making me get upset at myself/

Not having a MAP sensor will compound the problem of trying to start on starting fluid. Starting fluid doesn't work very well on these intakes because the runner lenghs are so long. I would quit trying to start it on starting fluid, it's not good for the motor and could result in intake boom.
Did you ever get the injectors wired up? VATS will generally let the vehicle fire up but it would die very quickly.
How long have the injectors been sitting, are they new or used? If they are used they will get stuck fairly quickly if they are left unplugged from the fuel system, and allowed to dry out.

Sound like your injectors aren't getting any power. What kind of wiring harness do you have? There maybe a fuse blown on your wiring harness or something not connected correctly for the injectors. Also make sure all your grounds are connected.

alright so i got up early today and started re-checking my wiring. so far 2 things of concern.
I have no power AT ALL going to the left bank Coil packs(2, 4, 6, 8 Cyls) however i do i have an adequate ground, if i put the negative probe on the main coil pack ground wire and the POS on the battery i get 12 volts. Since i work fast and loomed up/ taped up my harness already im gonna say screw pulling it back apart and just eliminate the pink wire in the coil harness and just tie in a whole new pink wire to a 12v ign source to simplify things. another area of concern is that some items are only getting 11.6 volts of power if that makes a difference?????? to be on the safe side im going to run an addition FAT ground wire from block to Frame. does that sound like a weak ground? all injectors are getting power and right bank cylinder coils all have power. left bank dead.

got the motor fired up today! two PCM 12volt ignition wires weren't getting any power with key ON. basically the pcm wasnt firing up. i thought it was turning on because the security light came on which i thought was associated with the pcm not bcm. i watched over the sensors with my OBD II scanner live data stream, everything looks good and is working correctly. i sprayed 1 spurt of starter fluid ( i know i know) and it fired instantaneously/ however i dont think the injectors are spraying. they all have power and i have 59psi at the rail. but i havent had VATS disabled yet. ill be sending the PCM to frost for tuning 2mrw. check engine light is on and its only throwing a code for some EVAP bullshit. nothing else. it sounds like a damn monster though.
