what are the possible causes of the random misfire, I have installed long tube headers , high flow cat's, cat back system, whisper lid and throttle body and that's all, I don't think any of those mod's whould start a misfire, the car was running fine up until today. You can totally tell the car is misfiring now in the way that it is running. What can I do to fix this problem, do I have to take the car to be serviced and diagnostic tested at this time or are there some things I can try first.

The most obvious is to check for some type of unmetered air getting in past the maf, around the TB etc. Less likely is a plug/plug wire problem as that would most likely cause a cylinder specific code. If you have access to a scanner watch the misfire counts on all cylinders and see if it is more predominant in certain cylinders than others, hope this helps.

were are the possible points were the unmetered air can be entering past the MAF.
