Datamasters is reading engine but not transmission 94 trans am 4l60e is having problems . I am trying to scan it for codes and watch the shifting patterns while driving to diagnose but I am not getting a reading from the transmission. I am getting a perfect reading from the engine. The car drives and shifts but im not entirely sure to which gears, seems to be intermittent.

Since the scanner app gets the transmission information from the PCM, there is no way it could not be working if the engine parameters are ok unless it has been setup as a manual (or the wrong year)

You have to tell datamaster that you are scanning an automatic. If you can swing it do a 24x swap and never look back! You won't regret it.
