Default Rough idea for max timing for 6.0?

Long story but I've gotta buddy who's running an old school stock iron headed 6.0 that's stock other than Trailblazer SS intake & 90mm TB, its in car that runs at bonneville on the salt, anyway they need to know what's an idea of the max timing they can run on 110 octane fuel...

Max timing? Alot.

Max timing that's actually going to make a difference in the engine? Probably no more than 26-28*. Anymore than that and it's a waste since it won't make anymore power.

You need to tell us more details in the engine specs to really say what timing max torque will be at. But even then, it's not going to need all the timing that 110 octane fuel will allow them to run...so it's not limited in that sense.

Tuned many stock 6L truck engines and 22* is all the timing they need or KR will occur after sustained WOT (1-2-3 WOT shifts)

yep thats what i was thinking exactly, I told him that running that 110 octane was pointless in a stock comp. ratio engine.

I don't know all the specs of it either, I'll let them know about the 22* vs KR @ WOT. They are actually at Bonneville trying to break the 175mph barrier with this junkyard 6.0L and can't get it past 141mph..... so he was wondering about bumping up the timing.
This is just a donor engine so he can get licenced his other engine isn't done.

He should of just taken any normal LS powered Camaro/Firebird/Vette, they'd do +150 stock lol

I highly doubt a few degrees of timing will take it from 141 to 175 mph. That jump will require several hundred hp, which is not even close what will be gained by a few degrees of timing.

Even with 110 Oct fuel you will gain a couple MPH MAX. Advance can reach a diminishing return point. 110OCT allows higher compression....not necessarily more timing (with regard to more power)
