Default Hp Tuners Questions

ok so I have a 00 z28 and a 03 truck with a 5.3l..

im going to do mods to the car headers stall etc..
and im giving a lot of thought to buying hptuners.
so I can have it to learn and tune my car.

I think it might be neat to learn something like this.
and I have 5 laptops im sure one will handle the program.

im just wondering if would buying this be the thing to do.
instead of trying to find a local tuner or having to go to like Lubbock or something to texas speed..

i did it its not fun, but i've always been good with computers and figuring out how to navigate programs. combine that with a LOT of googling and one can teach him self. i have a 98 with a 5.3 when i got the car it already had a decent tune for the ls1 that made 401 (but was half apart bad block). i've been tweaking that tune since i got my hp tuners lol i got it cheap on the forums its an older hp tuners serial cable but it had unlimited 98 and 02 f body's on it and i had a 98 and so happens my buddy has a 02 ws6, so we've been spraying the **** out of them lately.

Personally I've been in your position, went to a well known tuner to get my vehicle tuned, it didn't work out(lots of drivability issues in the end) ultimately the tuner only has a set amount of time to work on your vheicle before it is no longer profitable, lets put that number at 8 hours(though it might even be less) so you'll find many that take a couple of hours on the dyno, a couple for idle and see ya, with some combinations its not always that easy and depending on how much experience your tuner has it could be alot more work than they are willing to spend. Whereas when you purchase the things to do the job yourself you have literally all the time in the world, but a learning curve just as big to go along with it. With that said things have changed alot in the 10 or so years I've been tuning, lots of resources out there now in comparison to help you along.
